Why we're getting behind Peter Waterfield and London 2012.

We are delighted to announce that we are now supporting local diver, Peter Waterfield, as he attempts to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Following the appointment of BMW Group as the Official Automotive Partner of the 2012 Games, BMW is now actively supporting British athletes, such as Ellie Simmonds and Louis Smith, via the BMW London 2012 Performance Team. Meanwhile, in line with the Performance Team initiative, BMW dealers like us will be working with local athletes, supporting their endeavours to qualify for Team GB or ParalympicsGB.

London-born Peter trains locally at the Quays in Southampton. He has been diving since the age of nine and at the age of thirty has already won an Athens 2004 Olympic Games silver medal as well as Commonwealth gold and silver, World Championship bronze, World Cup silver and a European gold medal.

‘This is just so great’, said Peter. ‘I can't thank Scotthall Hampshire and BMW enough. I spend a lot of time driving to and from training sessions and driving to events ahead of London 2012, so having a brand new BMW X1 is amazing. Suddenly, I'm the envy of all my friends!’

David Scarfe, Dealer Principal at Scotthall Hampshire, said: ‘This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get really involved with the 2012 Games. Our staff and customers are keen to support London 2012, so we're really happy to be backing Peter – especially since he is a local athlete with a great talent and has a really good chance of doing well at the Games next year.’
